Confirmic

Confirmic was a cookie consent widget: a small, clear notice that asked visitors before a site set any cookies, blocked them until the visitor agreed, and remembered the choice after that. You signed up, it scanned your site for the third-party services you were using and sorted them into categories, and you added one tag. It was free for low-traffic sites, with paid plans as you grew.

It began as Metomic's cookie widget. Early in 2021 Metomic decided to discontinue it and concentrate on their data products, and their customers were not happy about losing it, so instead of switching it off they handed it to me to maintain and grow under a new name. The announcement went out on 31 March 2021 and the service carried on uninterrupted for the thousands of sites already using it.

The problem it existed to solve had not gone away: most cookie tools were hard to use and looked bad. The tagline was privacy with design. Under the hood it was Ruby on Rails with a React widget.
