Digital Pioneers arrive in Hong Kong

Without even a pause for breath from the mind-expanding experience that was South By SouthWest in Texas I’ve flown back to the UK, then flown straight out to Hong Kong.

I’m here as part of a project called Digital Pioneers with the British Council.

Late last year there was a call for entries for ‘entrepreneurs’ (I still have a problem with this word!) working in Digital Media interested in forming international links with Hong Kong. I was shortlisted, interviewed by a panel of high profile judges and then picked as one of the three people from the UK to be ‘digital pioneers’ and sent out to HK for networking, market research, mentoring, business development, company visits, exhibition visits and lots more. There are three people from Hong Kong who I’ll be meeting tomorrow who are doing the exact same thing in reverse, the idea being that over time this could become an international network of digital creative professionals around the world.

I’m here for ten days and the schedule looks fantastic. I’ll try to blog as much as I can about my experiences while I’m here and I’m posting photos on Flickr regularly.

The two other people from the UK are Emma Peios and Stafford Sumner. We met at the airport and spent the evening yesterday getting to know the area near where we are staying.
