This site was awarded a Golden Globe in the Non-Profit Organisation Website category at the 2001 World Media Festival, Hamburg. Features: zoomable image gallery, using Flash 4 — which allowed the user to zoom in to the detail of every item in the database; database of artworks and artifacts — implemented in PHP and MySQL; Quicktime VR panoramic tours of three museums.
On the zooming objects: "Some of the objects and works of art in the Museums & Art Gallery's collections are not always on show, or are kept behind cordons and in cabinets. The flash zoomer allows the visitor to the site to view images that they might ordinarily not have access too. In some cases the images on the site are actually larger than the real thing! Rather than making each image a standalone piece of Flash, the zoomer loads in other images and manipulates them."
The case-study page stated: "This site was worked on by 3form while employed at WebXpress Ltd."
Made at 3form.
