I've been looking for a simple, low maintenance way of running the accounting for my small company that I've set up, and I thought I'd share what I've learned and the apps that I'm using to make my life as easy as possible while I focus on doing work that brings in money. I've done this before a few times, and it feels like for the first time I'm actually using sensible software that's been designed for the 21st century. (I'm not selling anything, and I'm not involved in these companies other than as a customer. I'm also not giving this as advice to everyone, I'm not qualified to advise you on financial matters, but you may find this useful).
