Odadeo

Odadeo was a social site for dads, which I built and launched in a very early beta for Father's Day 2008. The question on the front page was the one I was asking myself at the time: how am I going to be a better dad?

You made pledges about the things that would make you a better father, kept track of whether you kept them, and got a graph of your progress to put on your blog. You could swap short tips, links and questions with other dads, without the long forum threads, and keep up with what your kids were doing through little status updates that anyone in the family could post from the web or by text. Each child could have a page pulling their photos, videos and posts together, with privacy controls.

Mashable wrote it up on launch day, the New York Times mentioned it that September in a piece about parents on social media, and Odadeo's own site recorded an appearance on ITV's Tonight programme. The company behind it, Odadeo Ltd, was set up later in 2008.
