- The event's finale poster counted 274 committed actions, 450 changemakers at the Saturday festival and 1.3 million people reached by #changenation.
An Ashoka initiative to address some of the societal problems that Ireland was facing, I rapidly developed a web-app in just a week, and live-hacked on it during a three day event to bring together a story of the 50 potential solutions, the innovators that were in attendance and the promises that were made.
The three days ran from Thursday 22 to Saturday 24 March 2012 and moved around Dublin: the Guinness Storehouse on the Thursday, Dublin Castle on the Friday, and Farmleigh House in the Phoenix Park on the Saturday for the public Festival of Solutions. Boz Temple-Morris was the creative director of the event and brought me in; Carolyn Jones made sure the right bits of information ended up in the right place in time; Toby Harris put the actions up on a big screen in the venues as they arrived, and cut the finale film.
The promises that came out of the one-to-one conversations were written out large on cards, then transcribed, given a URL of their own and published on the site while the event was still running — the point being that a summit like this usually ends with a room full of good intentions and no way to follow any of them up.
